2009 Region 5 Convention

On September 18th -20th, 2009, I had the pleasure of attending the Civitan Region 5 Convention in Midland, Ontario. It was a great experience! It was wonderful seeing Civitans from both the Canadian West and Canadian East Districts mingle and discuss their achievements during the past year. It was also a learning experience for me as I got an opportunity to observe how Civitan meetings are conducted.

As the Canadian West Junior Civitan Governor, I got an opportunity to address the Canadian West Civitans at their District Meeting. I spoke about the different ideas that the Junior Board had, and the different events we are planning in the upcoming year.

Throughout the Convention, I was also able to fundraise for Sno-Do. The grand total of donations I received during the weekend was: $455.00. Thank you to everyone for their donations and for supporting me in my Sno-Do fundraising.

Between the fantastic entertainment and the great new friends I made at the Region 5 Convention, I can say that the 2.5 hour drive from Mississauga was definitely worth it. I want to take the time to thank everyone who made this weekend enjoyable, especially the Midland Civitan Club. I also want to thank all the Civitans who welcomed both my father and brother into their annual Region 5 Convention; they had an amazing time.

I wish both Civitan Districts continued success in the upcoming year and as 2009-2010 Civitan President Mark Eisinger said, "Civitans are gonna ROCK THE WORLD!", and I'm sure they will!
